Zero landfill waste: how a modern technological complex is changing the future of the industry
Zero landfill waste: how a modern technological complex is changing the future of the industry
Eco-Spectrum's innovative developments serve the country's ecology
On March 18, 2026 , Eco-Spectrum, in collaboration with the Ministry of Fuel and Energy and Housing and Utilities of the Krasnodar Krai, held a large-scale demonstration of a comprehensive technological solution for municipal solid waste (MSW) processing. Representatives of the regional operator, JSC Krayzhilkomresurs , participated in the event .
The main goal of the presented solution is to achieve “zero” at the landfill : maximum extraction of useful fractions for recycling and complete destruction of non-recyclable residues without burial.
From a landfill to a modern sorting complex
During the demonstration, Eco-Spectrum specialists demonstrated the operation of a number of their own developments, combined into a single technological line:
A shredder of our own production – for the primary crushing of waste and its preparation for further sorting and processing.
Conveyor systems – providing automated movement of material between the nodes of the complex.
A compactor press is used to compress and package selected secondary resources (plastic, cardboard, metal) for subsequent recycling.
H200R incinerator is the most compact model in the line, used in this project for test burning and demonstrating the thermal treatment of non-recyclable sorting tailings.
A combined gas cleaning system ensures full compliance with environmental standards and eliminates harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
This configuration transforms a traditional landfill into a high-tech sorting complex with a closed waste processing cycle.
The main goal is zero landfill waste
The key philosophy of the presented solution is to minimize landfill volumes. Everything that can be recycled is recycled. Non-recyclable sorting tailings, which previously took up valuable landfill space, are thermally inactivated, producing safe bottom ash.
A turnkey landfill solution.
The participation of key regional representatives in the trials— Deputy Minister of Fuel and Energy Complex and Housing and Public Utilities of the Krasnodar Territory Maria Krasnoshchekova , Head of the Waste Management Department Evgeniya Dudko , and specialists from the regional operator JSC Kraizhilkomresurs —confirmed the high interest in integrated solutions that could change the approach to waste management in the region.
"Developing comprehensive solutions for waste processing and recycling is a priority for the industry. Technologies that not only extract useful fractions but also safely dispose of non-recyclable waste without landfilling are an important step toward reducing landfill pressure and achieving 100% waste sorting. We see this systemic approach in the presented complex," noted Maria Krasnoshchekova .
Expert assessment of developers
The presented developments are the result of many years of engineering and technological work by the Eco-Spectrum company.
"We demonstrated not a standalone unit, but a complete, turnkey solution. Our patented developments—shredders, conveyor systems, compactors, incinerators, and gas cleaning systems—are integrated into a single process line. This approach allows us to transform any landfill into a modern sorting complex with a full waste processing cycle. The main result is the minimization of landfill waste and the maximum recovery of useful fractions for recycling," emphasized Marina Vasilyevna Oleynik, Deputy General Director for Development and Environmental Safety at Eco-Spectrum .
The company's CEO, Oktyabrina Shakirovna Devletova, noted the strategic importance of this approach for the entire industry:
"Our goal is to make landfills long-lasting and cost-effective. When waste isn't simply stored but undergoes a full processing cycle—sorting, extraction of secondary resources, compaction for shipment to recyclers, and thermal treatment of the remaining tailings—the landfill ceases to be a source of environmental risks and becomes a technological enterprise. We are working to ensure that the implementation of such systems becomes the industry standard. After all, zero landfill waste isn't just a nice concept, but an achievable goal."
A look into the future
The results of the demonstration will form the basis for further collaboration between Eco-Spectrum and the Ministry of Fuel and Energy, Housing and Utilities of the Krasnodar Krai and the regional operator. The presented comprehensive solution can be adapted to any scale and implemented at waste management facilities in any region of Russia.
The implementation of such technological complexes will allow:
reduce burial volumes to minimum values;
increase the service life of existing landfills;
to increase the economic efficiency of waste management facilities through the use of secondary resources;
eliminate environmental risks associated with long-term storage of non-recyclable fractions.
"We see strong interest from relevant agencies and regional operators in localized solutions for recycling non-recyclable fractions. Our development is not just a furnace; it's a fully equipped technological system, ready for integration into existing waste management infrastructure," a representative of Eco-Spectrum commented on the test results.
